  3. We Are Better Off Than Four Years Ago
    My speech for president Obama-
At this time four years ago the Dow Jones Average was about where it is now. But by December 31st of 2008, before I took office the Dow was at 8800 and sinking fast and it quickly sank to half today's level before we began to turn this crisis around. George W Bush had to send out $700 checks to everybody in America to keep us from bottoming out. How Socialist is that?

So to those in business who say 'am I better off now than I was four years ago?' I say, if you like being pulled out of the frying pan and put in the window to cool, then yes, you are better off now.

To bailout haters. This American economy might have crashed and burned without those bailouts and they were bi-partisan. Period. Where would we be if we had let our auto industry disappear as Governor Romney suggested?

Unemployment has stabilized and is coming down.

We're not doing great, yet. But we're coming back from the deepest hole this country has seen since the Great Depression!

    We are better off now.

  4. Wow, what a load of crap. You REALLY think unemployment is better now than it was? That its stabilized? You buy into the 8.1% nonsense? What about all the people that are unemployed that no longer qualify for unemployment? Do they just NOT COUNT as unemployed? The invisible MILLIONS. How about the record number of food stamp beneficiaries. And the auto industry, that Owebama "saved"? Hows that stock price doing, whats our ROI on that bailout? Oh, and don't forgot saving FORD, Oh wait, they didnt get any. And why exactly are we in "the deepest hole this country has seen since the Great Depression!"? Maybe Dodd, Frank, and Clinton manipulating housing so millions could get homes they couldn't afford? No, they couldn't POSSIBLY be responsible for it! That was all BUSH'S fault! Sheep.

  5. The way unemployment is calculated was changed to ignore those who fell off the roles in 1994. The calculation has been the same since then. Fact.
"THE DEFINITION OF 'UNEMPLOYED' HAS CHANGED"...On and on the right-wing talkers dismiss the improving employment numbers by saying the Obama administration changed the way unemployment is calculated, but that is not true. Show me one link to one reliable source showing when and how this happened! You can't. What Neal Boortz etc. are referring to (when they say today's rate would be higher under the old formula) is something that occurred in 1994 under Clinton. Here is a link to an article by Kevin Phillips proving my point.
Quote and Link: "But in 1994, the Bureau of Labor Statistics redefined the workforce to include only that small percentage of the discouraged who had been seeking work for less than a year. The longer-term discouraged—some 4 million U.S. adults—fell out of the main monthly tally. Some now call them the “hidden unemployed.” http://harpers.org/archive/2008/05/0082023
