Twitter Facebook and Trump
I am truly confused by this little fight between Facebook, Twitter and Trump. I have way too much experience with all three. I have been on Facebook and Twitter since their inception and have despised Trump since his dawn into politics. I've discovered the hard way the differences between Facebook and Twitter's rules. And until this new situation developed I had decided that I far preferred Facebook to Twitter. Let me explain. I have been in Facebook jail (so to speak) that is, blocked from using Facebook for days, weeks and months at a time usually for getting drunk and threatening Trump or some other conservative Nut Job. I've learned the boundaries and I've been fine with them in recent years. Facebook blocks you for being violent or threatening or other things that I haven't done I guess, like pornography or whatever. But they generally inform you as to what your infraction was and give you a chance to redeem yourself with a certain penalty of lack of access. Twitter on the other hand... When Kanye West sad that “Slavery was a choice” I was enraged and I posted on Twitter that that in fact “That makes Kanye West Trump's house slave.” I think I also said his wife was fat and ugly. Now that's not fair and I was just being mean, but nevertheless I said nothing any more than those two statements and I was banned from Twitter for life! I appealed it five times and was rejected. [I have since recently gotten a new email address and created a new Twitter account which has not been blocked yet.] So the difference between the two platforms and what is and isn't allowed is very confusing to me. I am glad that Twitter is fact-checking Trump and I am confused by Zuckerberg saying that Facebook doesn't control speech. Because they do, if you look at the screenshot which I just took you will see that you can report a post on Facebook for being false news or hate speech false advertising or for a variety of other reasons. So when Zuckerberg says that he will not fact check Trump on Facebook I wonder what that means? Will Trump be put in Facebook jail as so many Facebook users have experienced for getting out of hand? I have reported examples of hate-speech to FB and received acknowledgement from Facebook that those posts were in fact removed per my report! Curious as to whether I can do that when Trump crosses the same lines on Facebook.
