Hope for Democrats

Presently there are zero African American governors in the USA. 

Not even the bluest of states like CA and NY have Black governors. Abrams in GA and Gillum in FL are new to the big stage in politics and they both ran very close races in dark red states. There's nothing wrong with hoping they would win and working for that, UNLESS you take their narrow defeat as a sign to surrender. 

It is very rare for anyone to be elected governor of a state on their first try and traditionally Gillum' and Abrams showings in this election would set them up as 'shoe-ins' for the nomination in the next governors race. And their experience and organizational work this year should position them to have a much better chance to win next time.
