In his column in the New York Times today 'Ready, Aim, Fire. Not, Ready, Fire, Aim', writer Thomas Friedman makes a very important point about the need for President Obama to move with a steady and informed hand on this issue and not succumb to the logic of the likes of Rep. Mike Rogers, -"the Republican chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, told “Fox News Sunday” that “this ‘don’t-do-stupid-stuff’ policy isn’t working.”- writes Friedman.
And correctly Friedman points out that that flawed logic led to the disaster of the 'stupid' war with Iraq started by the unbelievably stupid George W Bush administration. But here Friedman weaves off line. He believes that the impetus for the problem at hand is the rise of Shiite Iran in the face of weakened Sunni leadership in Iraq and Afghanistan. Not true.
Iran doesn't have a damned thing to do with ISIL except in that they could be of great help to us in combating them. It was the Sunni power vacuum created by the US deposing Saddam Hussein that led to the rise of ISIL. Hussein was a brutal monarch who kept the 'Sunni street' satisfied and he tamped down on would be Sunni challengers to his throne (the likes of ISIL) with an iron fist that was far more informed of this enemy than we can hope to be today.
ISIL will be destroyed, evil will not prosper and history should read that it was the likes of Cheney, Wolfowitz, Rumsfeld and 'the Decider' that caused this mountain of sad unnecessary hell.

What led to ISIS, ISIL ... or whatever they call themselves was the U.S. (read Obama) support of the Arab Spring. The Arab Spring killed Gaddafi, deposed Mubarak and sent Assad's Syria into turmoil. It was these leaders who kept the radical Islamic fanatics under control. Sure Saddam did, but losing him did not cause the rise of ISIL.
Once the Libyan, Egyptian and Syrian dictators were out of the way there was nothing to stop the spread of the sadistic Islamic butchers.
Obama supported the Arab Spring, the overthrow of Gaddafi, the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt and the ouster of Assad.
In fact, Obama has not supported anyone who speaks against Islamic radicalism. They threatened to remove military aid from Egypt because the people wanted the Muslim Brotherhood out and the military complied. Egypt is now much more stable without Islamic killers in charge.
It's been over ten years since Saddam was over thrown. If it was going to happen because of his departure it would have happened much sooner. Once the other Middle East dictators were overthrown ISIS appeared virtually overnight.
Stop listening to progressive liars trying to cover Obama ass and rewrite history. It should be very clear by now that Obama is pro-Islamist.
What led to Al Qaeda was the US support for Mubarek and Saudi Arabia, who sent Muslim fundamentalists to Egypt's torture chambers. That satanism of the torture turned the fundamentalists satanic with hate and vengence...All of the Muslim terrorists simply want the US and west to stop supporting Arab Monarchs and Israel...

DeleteYou know, perhaps Israel was reformed because for no logical reason, most of the world hates Jews and wants to kill them (see current Middle East). Israel is less than 1% of the Middle East land mass yet the butchers of Islam can't seem to share that even.
Also, do you have any idea what prompted the Crusades? Was it Muslims taking over Jerusalem and spreading across Africa and Europe?
Have you ever heard of the battle at the Gates of Vienna? How about Charles Martel? One battle and one man that stopped the advance of the barbaric Muslims into Europe.
