  1. Apparently you don't understand that NO ONE paid those high tax rates. You also don't seem to understand that the US did not have the massive social spending it has now.

Today, virtually ALL tax money taken in is spent on entitlements ... welfare, Medicare, Medicaid, food stamps, housing etc. We also didn't have massive public sector unions draining cities dry.

If we could cut entitlement spending by half not only could we start to pay off our massive debt, we could do anything we wanted.

2013 tax revenue is 2.7 TRILLION, yet planned spending is 3.7 TRILLION. We have to BORROW a trillion dollars. 2.3 TRILLION of that revenue is going to ENTITEMENT programs. We have to borrow to run that dam government.

Understand? WE HAVE NO MONEY BECAUSE WE'RE TAKING IT FROM WORKING PEOPLE AND GIVING IT TO OTHER PEOPLE TO BUY VOTES FOR DEMOCRATS.

Imagine what the economy would do if even a small fraction of those trillions was left in the hands of the people that earned it. Stop listening to propaganda and spend some time getting the facts.

  2. Like every other misinformed ditto-head that takes on this issue you claim that no one paid these rates, but you don't even try to prove it. Ronald Reagan even said that he would stop working, as an actor, each year when he reached the precipice of the 90% rate. Of course he still payed 70-80%. But the biggest flaw in your argument is that you don't try to explain how we did all the monumental things we did in those decades without vastly higher revenue [Between 1940-80 we fought and paid for WWII, Korean War, Vietnam War, we built our US Interstate Expressway system, Roads, Electrical Grid, Telephone, our main Bridges and Tunnels; we Made every Car we Drove and we wore just the Clothes we Sewed and WE WENT TO THE MOON SIX TIMES-AND WE PAID FOR IT ALL!]

  3. I just explained how we did those things. Almost all of our money NOW GOES TO ENTITLEMENTS. WE HAVE NO MONEY TO SPEND ON ANYTHING ELSE.

    Use your damn head.

By the way genius, the federal government didn't pay for everything. Private companies paid for telephone and electrical transmission lines. States paid for bridges and tunnels.

You are so misinformed it hurts. You've been so brainwashed you actually think government tyranny is good and liberty is bad.

Go on, keep voting for psychotic liberals hell bent on destroying this nation. The sooner we collapse the faster we can rebuild.

  4. When those tax rates were in effect deductions were almost limitless and tax shelters were easy and numerous. After deductions and shelters no one paid those rates. In addition, many companies offered perks in lieu of higher salaries which could not count towards earned income. Cars, homes, expense accounts etc.

To think that people would actually stand for 90% of their income being taken is naïve. 25% is too much. Taxes unfortunately are a necessary evil. A much fairer tax would be a flat rate tax ... maybe 10%. You earn a thousand dollars you pay one hundred. You earn a million you pay $100,000. The more you make the more you pay, the less you make the less you pay.

Most money would stay in the hands of earners and producers. The economy would explode.

Look up the depression of 1920. It was in many ways worse than the so-called great depression. Our liberal education system won't teach it because they don't like how we got out of it. The government cut it's spending by half and lowered tax rates. Within a year the economy exploded. Maybe you've heard of it ... it was called the Roaring Twenties.
