I really don't mean to be disingenuous about showing the flag. Obviously no one 'owes' it to anyone to show the flag to prove their patriotism, but I do think that a lot of us 'lefties' tend to be too cynical and feel that to show patriotism means we support the rotten parts of our history. I'm patriotic because of all the good we've done, including rising above our mistakes from the past...That said I really do like the idea that some people who are most hateful towards the president will see the flag next to the Obama sticker and think, 'Well at least they like America' or more likely, 'At least they're faking it'.
