Record Low Teen Birthrate-Obama leads by example?

Below you will find an excerpt and link from this Washington Post story. This is fantastic news and I know some will laugh at me for tying this to President Obama, but as the ABC radio report says "Something must be working..." This administration has aggressively pushed good sex education initiatives and the president and first family have set the best and most wholesome example humanly possible. I would go so far as to say that we have NEVER in modern US history had a president who was simultaneously considered 'cool, handsome and WHOLESOME, by the youth of America'. Way to go kids of America and First Family...YOU ROK!

As the nation continued to struggle in the recession in 2009, the rate at which U.S. women are having babies continued to fall, pushing the teen birth rate to a record low, federal officials reported Tuesday.
The birth rate among U.S. girls aged 15 to 19 fell to 39.1 births per 1,000 teens in 2009, the most recent year for which statistics are available. That's a 6 percent drop from 2008 and the lowest rate ever recorded in the nearly 70 years that the federal government has been collecting reliable data, according to a preliminary analysis of data from the National Center for Health Statistics.

  1. Interesting. You think Obama is really the reason? A reason?

  2. I honestly believe that no president ever has been able to touch the hearts of young people the way PO has. He appeals, not just to young voters, but to the really young 10-16 crowd. They know that he actually listens to their music which is mainly hip hop. And while much of that music glorifies sex and materialism, President Obama exudes fidelity, fairness and responsibility. He has made 'goodness' 'cool'. I do think that his example has affected youth culture.
