I have an idea for an educational tool concerning taxes and federal revenue. I have no proprietary interest and I encourage any and all to help with this project to build a simple calculator that would allow people to enter varying tax rates for varying income levels of the US population and thereby get a rough estimate of how changes in our tax code would affect revenues to the federal government.
I think that such a thing might be a most valuable tool in today's political climate. I am sure the changes we made to the tax code during the Great Depression and WWII were critically needed, but without a total collapse, or a new Pearl Harbor, I don't know how to fight the corporate voices against raising taxes on the most wealthy. I think this could be a very useful tool.
Please join me in spreading the word on this in the hopes that some web designers and economists might build a free online device as I describe here.
