I'd like to start promoting the idea that big box stores should be REQUIRED BY FEDERAL LAW to reserve 5% of their space for products made in the USA. States could do the same thing to reserve space for locally produced goods. This is an idea that would appeal to Union/Democrats and Tea Party/Conservatives.

ReplyDeletesince this morning AARP seems to be changing its support of leaving Social Security alone, we are trying to resign our membership in AARP and get this message out:
Everyone in Washington is talking about weakening Social Security. The suggestions range from cutting benefits to raising the retirement age to ending it altogether in favor of gambling in the stock market.
If any of this is done, to help balance the damage it does to the American public, we must make it very difficult for corporations to get rid of workers who are aging. We propose that there should be a cash fine of twenty million dollars, to be paid to Social Security, for each person 55 or over that is laid off or fired for any reason.
