Everything we do affects us all

The question for Anthony W is...What are your standards for when you lie to us or not?

As gross as all this Weiner stuff is, and as much as we know (and he knows) that you can't get elected (even in France!) with this kind of junk in public, still, I say, that the LYING was the worst of it...
...................................
Bill Clinton, white lies and the Weiner deal...
While I agree that no one should be sanctioned for personal behavior which is legal, I would add one caveat...If someone is doing something which is legal, but they also feel the need to keep it a secret, even to the point of lying about it, that can lead to trouble. I would feel a lot different about Weiner if he hadn't looked into the camera and made up a total lie. Yes it's no one's business and yes if he had said 'no comment' people would have taken that as an admission, but I certainly draw the line at lying under oath as BC did. Everything was going to come out anyway and if he'd simply refused to answer rather than lie under oath he wouldn't have given the Rs the impeachment stick to bash him with. I think it's fair to say that the WTO and GATT deals he signed wouldn't have been signed by any other Democrat president ever. And while I believe in free and fair trade, even BC has publicly regretted signing deals with no teeth to support an even playing field (on human rights and environmental regulations). I'll always wonder if he might have fought harder to protect US workers (and 3rd world workers) if the Rs hadn't had the impeachment stick to push him around with.
Weiner too put himself in a compromising situation...If he was willing to lie to his supporters about this to keep it secret...what else might he have done to would be blackmailers of any stripe...The question for Anthony W is...What are your standards for when you lie to us or not?
