Everything we do affects us all

"If you ain't John, I'm gone!" WE HERE IN THE SOUTH...MISS OUR TRAINS...

I am dedicating myself to the idea of bringing good passenger rail travel to Athens GA and the southeast as a whole...

I just rode Amtrak, roundtrip, from Gainsville GA to Clemson SC for $50 even and it was great....

People have said for years that the US population isn't dense enough to support rail travel, but seeing the traffic in Atlanta you have to say, in the words of that old Brother Dave Gardner joke..."If you ain't John, I'm gone!..."

God yes we need rail travel in GA.

  2. In the joke, a series of monsters keep visiting a man who is staying in a haunted house, each one bigger than before and they all ask "are you gonna be here when John gets here...?" Finally the man says..."If you ain't John, I'm gone!"

I mean it, as in, 'if this isn't enough auto-traffic to justify rail, then what is?

  3. The joke itself isn't that funny. Brother Dave sells it with his natural Southern drawl and accent! Don't get all racially oversensitive, now! Even most of us white folks talk that way down here!
