Paul Walker- Stop Selling Speed

Every time you see a car ad where they show the driver's foot press the pedal to the floor and the car moves in a blur as the driver smiles a wicked smile, it's an evil orgasm of life risking for a rush and the lives risked are many more than just the driver's....

Sad but True-
It's awful, but it's inevitable.
Dangerous, illegal high-speed driving on public roads gets people killed and we should crack down on this and the FCC should abolish the marketing of automobiles based on speed and 'adrenalin rush' driving.

It's sad to say, but this accident was the best thing that could happen for our sick hedonistic culture. Guys like these get thousands of innocent people killed every year by glamorizing dangerous driving. Their lifestyle and entertainment products influence their fans to drive dangerously and die-and worst of all, they frequently kill safe drivers simultaneously. Speed driving is more dangerous than drunk driving!

We should be more thankful that no innocent people were killed, than sad for the victims here. That's sad, but true. I'm sorry for the friends and families of the victims here, but I'm glad they didn't take innocent people with them.

  1. Well let me be the first to say that when you die it will be the best thing to happen so we can use it as an excuse to crack down on the stupidity in America. You smoke and drink. Ever been convicted of a DUI? Wouldn't be surprised. Ever think how these actions endangered yourselves or others? You should really look at yourself before being almighty and righteous. The driver was a professional racer, going below speeds he commonly drives. Yes it was a bad judgement, and I'm not condoning the action, but it was a tragedy. The loss of two lives, good lives, is no reason to rejoice. Reading this is just offensive. You'd fit in perfectly with pieces of shit at westboro baptist church.

    2. What exactly am I wrong about? Your response has nothing to do with anything I've said. Drinking and smoking is glamorized as well in television and other media, and causes more deaths than speeding accidents. But I guess since you do it makes it ok?

In my opinion, speeding is just as bad as drunk drivng or texting/using cell phone or any other distractions while driving.

  6. Moderate Repub Anon here again. @Extreme Repub Anon - My stance on the big vs. small debate is that the answer lies in the middle.....taking the best ideas from the spectrum and putting them to work for the good of all (i.e., "America"). That's what made this country great.

    1. Democrat Anon2 here. Amen to that!

      Delete
  7. Well it sounds as if you're just confused. You can't be "middle" on economic issues if you're left on social issues. It's social issues that cause economic problems. Social spending eats up virtually all tax revenue forcing the government to borrow to run itself ... leading to enormous debt that generations of our children will have to pay for.

As far as the big government vs small ... it's not a question of "being in the middle". It's a question of do you understand the purpose of the US Constitution and do you think the federal government should abide by it. The Constitution was written precisely to limit the power of the federal government.

By the way, what made this country great was the freedom to live your life free from government control and coercion. That's the American dream. You could come from nothing and achieve everything. That dream is effectively dead. There is nothing you do today that isn't taxed, controlled or regulated by the government. There is nothing "middle" about that.

    1. Moderate Repub Anon here. Yes, you can be socially liberal and fiscally moderate. I believe there are certain basic needs that people should have met: food, health care, shelter, and education. I don't think that government has all the answers but I don't trust the private sector to always do the right thing.

As for the Constitution, I don't believe it should be a rigid document.

      Delete
    2. If you don't believe the Constitution should be a rigid document then either A) you have no idea why the Constitution was written as it was or B) you believe all laws should be flexible.

Secondly, if you think people should all receive food, health care, shelter, and education, then you're free to buy it for them.

That's the odd thing about liberals, which you are of course. Liberals bleat about this injustice or that injustice and this need or that need but they never seem to use their own money to provide it. Liberals won't start charities or non-profit health insurance companies, but they will spend millions (more like billions) of their own money electing democrats who will write laws that take that money from people forcibly. Then they sit on their high horses and crow ... "Look at us!!! See what we've done for you!!! We care!!!" Of course the main result of all these programs is that people become dependent on government and will vote to keep the money coming in. That's the main purpose, to develop a base of people dependent on democrats and will vote for them regardless how these programs hurt them and the country.

Oh ... I forgot to add. Prior to Obamacare everyone was getting health care. Not everyone had health insurance, but anyone who needed medical treatment received it. Now, mostly the middle class will have to fork over billions more for new health insurance when they were happy with their much cheaper old health insurance and people who had no money and still received health care will now get crappy Medicaid and much worse care.

    3. "Yes, you can be socially liberal and fiscally moderate".

Please tell me how. In 2013 we will have spent 2.3 trillion on social programs while taking in 2.7 trillion in tax revenue. The budget calls for spending a total of 3.5 trillion.

The "rich" already pay 40% federal plus state, local and property. In NYC the total tax bill exceeds 60%. The only option is to raise taxes on the middle class ... which they did with Obamacare but it isn't enough. They will have to raise the tax rates on the middle class as well.

      Delete
    5. I have no idea what that means.

The Constitution provides for an amendment process to make any changes "modern times" deem necessary. There have been 27 Amendments to date.

So in reality, the Constitution isn't quite as rigid as you believe.

    32. It's amazing how you all ignore what I'm saying. You people keep talking about "moderates" and "centrists" yet you don't realize YOU'RE the ones that refuse moderation. Democrats only want to grow government programs. They won't even compromise with a 5% reduction. It's you who are the extremists.

I've said this over and over but you simply refuse to acknowledge it ... we're spending virtually all what we take in on social programs. WE HAVE TO BORROW TRILLIONS JUST TO RUN THE GOVERNMENT. Democrats want to keep growing these programs and we can't even pay for them.

UNDERSTAND YET????? The Fed is printing money and borrowing just to run the damn government.

If you want programs to be for those who fall on hard times then do it. Instead what democrats are doing is creating an entire welfare nation. They want everyone dependent on the government ... everyone. That way they will stay in power. Think of the power the government has when it controls everything. You dare not cross those in power for fear of having it taken away from you. You see that today, millions dependent on government who keep voting democrat to keep getting tax money.

It's the government that has created the mess we're in. Look at all the damn social programs created by democrats. Has anything gotten better? We've spent trillions on the war on poverty yet nothing has changed except there are millions now dependent on the government for their existence. The government creates the problems then they demand we grow more government to fix the problems.

Where the hell are your brains? Stop listening to media propaganda and just start thinking.

The bigger the government the worse things get. It's simply a truism. Either you want to be a ward of the state and do everything they say whether you like it or not or you wake the hell up.

Finally, why do you think democrats have fought against securing our borders and want so desperately to grant amnesty to millions of illegals? Illegals who are poor, unskilled and undereducated? Because they will become dependent on government and lifelong democrat voters. Democrats know they already have you by the balls, they couldn't care less whether you get a job. Now they want millions of foreigners granted citizenship so they can have them by the balls too.

    40. To all the Dem Anon's here... THANKS FOR KEEPING THE FAITH IN THE AMERICAN DREAM ALIVE!
Since everybody on the Right and Left describe our economic troubles today as like the 'Great Depression' then why don't we see any stories recounting how we got out of the Great Depression? Here's how we did it!
After the stock market crash in 1929, when our tax rates on the most wealthy were similar to today's rates, we raised the rates on the richest Americans to double or triple what they are today.
From 1930-80 the wealthiest Americans paid between 70% to 90% federal income tax and that's what allowed us to build the American Dream. How else could we afford it? Between 1930-80 we fought and paid for WWII, the Korean War and Vietnam War, we built our entire US Interstate Expressway System, Roads, Electrical Grid, Telephone, our main Bridges and Tunnels-We Made every Car we Drove and we wore just the Clothes we Sewed and WE WENT TO THE MOON SIX TIMES-AND WE PAID FOR IT ALL!

      Delete
    41. You are so stupid it hurts. Even if we taxed "the rich" at 100% it still won't be enough (of course you could only do that once). The government would still have to borrow money. Why don't you take a few minutes to research how much we take in, what we spend and what we spend it on. Every time you post that comment it makes you look like an idiot.

What will happen is the government will start going after assets, including private savings and property. There is no end to what the government will do. Of course people that support democrats will be protected. The threat of having everything you've worked for taken away is great incentive to stop supporting conservatives and support socialists. Hitler did it, Lenin and Stain did it, Mao did it ... now it looks like Obama will do it.

      Delete
    42. It's really sad to hear you regurgitate the same old phony snake oil I've heard on far right radio for decades...I love the phony 'three card Monty' logic of -Even if we taxed "the rich" at 100% it still won't be enough-
Well golly gee, you're so smart! That's why from the 40s to 80s we taxed most wealthy people at about 55%, that way they did not go out of business and over the years we gained drastically more revenue than we would have by taking 100% of their earnings. PLUS we used the revenue to build world class roads, rail, telecom, satellites, public education, etc. which allowed the highly taxed businesses to actually make more money than they would have at the lower rates, in a less modern nation. What you meant to say is that I'm so RIGHT it hurts.

      Delete
    43. No, I meant to say you're so stupid it hurts. There's no snake oil ... just numbers. I've given the numbers, given links, tried to explain simple math but you people put your blinders on, bow down and do your "Obama" chant.

If you'd take the time to actually look at our revenue, total spending and a breakdown of that spending you'd see we could build highways to the moon and back ... except for the fact that we can't because we're spending almost all of it on social programs. When we spend almost everything on ever expanding social programs we have to borrow to do everything else. The deficit is what we borrow.

Your answer is to just take more money from people. All that does is stagnate the economy and make more and more people dependent on the government. If you want a strong, vibrant United States we have to stop transferring wealth and start creating it. Expansion of the welfare state will accomplish only two things, one ... the creation of two separate classes. The rich and powerful ruling class, and the rest of us ... the peons dependent on the ruling class. Two ... more democrat voters. The more people dependent on democrat programs the more that will vote democrat. This is the entire idea.

Look, I'll try one more time. I'm not trying to convert anyone. I'm just trying to open your eyes.

      2009 revenue: 2.1 trillion
      2009 total spending: 3.5 trillion
2009 social program spending: 1.9 trillion
      2009 deficit: 1.4 trillion

      2010 total spending: 3.5 trillion
      2010 social programs: 2.1 trillion

      2011 revenue: 2.3 trillion
      2011 total spending: 3.6 trillion
      2011 social programs: 2.2 trillion
      2011 deficit: 1.3 trillion

      2012 revenue: 2.5 trillion
      2012 total spending: 3.5 trillion
      2012 social programs: 2.0 trillion
      2012 deficit: 1.1 trillion

      2013 total spending: 3.5 trillion
      2013 social programs: 2.2 trillion

By the way ... stop saying we taxed people at exorbitant tax rates in the past. The rates may have been high but the deductions and tax shelters were numerous. When Reagan cut tax rates he also did away with most deductions.
